 HUGCLT 2024 IMPACT REPORT

2024 was a year defined by action, compassion, and transformation for our Hearts United for Good family. Thanks to the constant and unwavering support of our donors, volunteers, advocates, and community partners - we were able to meet unprecedented challenges head-on, AND expand our daily reach & efforts to serve those most in need.

From distributing thousands of pounds of essential resources to offering refuge and hope during times of crisis…. our mission to uplift and empower individuals in Mecklenburg County and beyond has never been stronger.

With our 2024 Impact Report, we are SO proud to share the numbers and stories that illustrate the profound impact your generosity made possible.

Together, we’ve shown what’s achievable when Hearts Unite for Good.

Our 2024 Impact Report will show just how much we’ve been able to turn compassion into action, and how - with your continued support - we’ll accomplish even more in the years to come.

   WESTERN NC SUPPORT

Hurricane Helene has devastated Western NC, prompting HUG to mobilize resources for vulnerable populations in remote areas of Avery and Yancey Counties. While larger communities may receive quicker aid, smaller towns often struggle to recover from both immediate and long-term impacts. HUG committed to providing flexible, immediate, and long-term support, ensuring these overlooked communities receive essential supplies and assistance throughout the recovery process.

In the first 30 days after the flooding, HUG delivered over 10,000 lbs. of resources and continues to support clean-up and rebuilding efforts, ensuring no community is left behind.

THANK YOU TO OUR OFFICIAL PARTNERS!

 HUG FREE FOOD PANTRY

2021 vs. 2024

Since the inception of our Free Food Pantry Program in January of 2021, HUG has provided over  31,000 full bags of groceries to struggling families and individuals in Mecklenburg County.

In 2024 alone, we distributed over 30,000+ Free Diapers, 20,000+ free hygiene items, 15,000+ Adult Incontinence Supplies, and 9,000 feminine hygiene products to those in need.

Through the power of collaboration and partnerships, we have both cut our costs AND increased distribution remarkably over the last 4 years:

2021 vs. 2024 COST PER POUND: 95% DECREASE

2021 vs. 2024 COST PER BAG: 92% DECREASE

2021 vs. 2024 BAG DISTRIBUTION: 438% INCREASE

2021 vs. 2024 LBS. OF FOOD DISTRIBUTED: 761% INCREASE

Our incredible system of connections has allowed us to continue to grow and expand our impact, regardless of major funding. As we pursue grants and sponsorships from those who connect and believe in our work and efforts, we are still providing tens of thousands of crucial supplies and items to those that need them the most.

This is why we are deeply committed to our community and incredibly proud of our organization. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our private and individual donors, sponsors, and dedicated volunteers for your unwavering support and hard work. We look forward to doubling these achievements in 2025!
